Pudsey Congs U11's v Northowram U11's
at Britannia Ground
Sunday May 11th, 2008

Northaram won the toss and put Congs into bat. Alex Goodchild (20) and Mustafa Rafique (22) scored well and with the rest of the team holding onto their wickets well, the end total of 234-6 was a mighty fine performance on a hot dry morning. What followed was a mild shock to the system. The Congs fielding and bowling was a little inconsistent and with the taking of 5 wickets, the game was in the balance to the last over. Two more well struck boundaries ended the innings with the visitors clear and deserving winners. Having said all that, the visitors were a genuine U11 side as opposed to our Congs boys who are Under 9's and 10's, so promising signs lay ahead in the season.

Pudsey Congs U11's v Farsley U11's
at Britannia Ground
Sunday May 4th, 2008

Farsley visited the rain soaked Brit with Mark Allman and Stu Hardcastle in charge of the Cong's under 11's for the very first time. As Alex Goodchild is the only experienced Cong, a completely new side including 6yr old Harry Allman bowled first. Brilliant three overs from D.Hussain taking 5 wickets backed up by all the other bowlers and supported by good keeping from Jack Allman, not to mention the hard working fielders kept the visitors to hard earned 204/7.

In the second innings the Farsley bowlers were just as tight. Ross Kettlewell pounced on the few lose deliveries striking three boundaries but the bowlers fought back Cong's middle order finding runs hard to come by. The game hung in the balance until N.Rafiq hit an attacking 26 to secure a Cong's win.
