Dales Council 2nd Xl Player Profiles 2008
By Dan Appleyard
Stuart Hardcastle (Captain)
A captain who wears his heart on his sleeve and constantly gives 110%. A top order batsman and opening bowler, he leads from the front and by example. At the crucial moments he takes wickets and scores runs. He'll be expecting to notch up plenty of runs to his tally and add to his list of victims.
James Galvin (Vice Captain)
A vocal, and intergral part of the side. When things get quiet in the field, he rallies the troops to not lose concentration. James is a talented batsman and a skilful bowler. Ending last season with a couple of good scores, he will be hoping to take that momentum through this season and hit plenty more.
Abid Bashir
A top order batsman that isn't afraid to strike the ball with power. His knocks are valuable and often entertaining to watch. Lets hope for some more hard hitting from Abid this year.
Alistair Goodchild
Another talented batsman that will be looking to hit some big scores. After a masterfully hit century last season, Ali will definately be wanting to repeat the feat on many more occasions to help his team secure promotion this summer.
Colin Nelthorpe
The man that is: Legend. We'll be hoping he lives up to his name with his valuable spin. Colin always gives nothing less than 110% and will do whatever it takes to stop the ball in the field. Also handy with the bat, this year he will, yet again, show that he is an important part of the side.
Jo Royce
The hard hitting batsman and agile wicket keeper. Jo has proved he is an important part of the side and will be looking to prove that further with more crucial performances with the bat, with the gloves and in the field. Always aiding Galvin with the rallying cries, he backs the bowler all the way.
Danny Cockin

Batsman, bowler, fielder, and occasionally wicket-keeper; he never disappoints. An ever improving batsman and bowler, Danny scores runs and takes wickets at the crucial moments. He'll be looking to improve his game and prove that he is an important part of the side.
Tom Brook
A promising young talent to come through the ranks. Still playing for the under-17's, Tom will be aiming to prove himself with a great deal more good performances with the bat and in the field. Always giving more than what is asked of him, he is definately a rising star.
Ashley Slater
Another one to come through the ranks. Ash has often held his own with valuableand skilful scores with the bat. As a bowler, he has plenty of outstanding performances under his belt and will be hoping to add many, many more!
Adam Patrick
Much like Ash, Adam has come through the ranks, still flying the flag for the under-15's. Despite his age, he has deceived many senior batsmen with his good line and length bowling. A good fielder and useful with the bat, he and Ash will be looking to gain experience and improve their game.
Danny Appleyard
Talented young swing bowler. Dan broke into the side a year late but looks set to make up for that. As this years opening bowler he should really challenge for honours. An intelligent cricket brain, Dapple can, should, could and will go far.
Chris Ingham

In the field he is quick and agile. A reliable bowler, Chris keeps the runs down and strikes in the right places, and at the right time. He will be looking to improve his game and get more wickets under his belt, and also pitch in where necessary with the bat.
