3XI MATCH REPORTS 2021
Sat June 5 - Interlink CC @ Fulneck
Interlink CC, who play at Bradford Park Avenue proved much too strong for our Dales Council team at Fulneck.
On a pitch that provided little assistance to the bowlers, it provided an opportunity to score BIG and they did. Two quality batters looked in prime form, timing their shots beautifully from ball one. The Congs bowled well with pace, determination and with a full length kept the batters on the front foot. On a boiling hot day our young team battled throughout the 40 overs with our Captain. Matthew Humpleby setting the field well to contain the run rate and his players backed him up admirably with sharp work in the deep, coupled with powerful returns to the keeper. Interlink cruised to 250 before Congs bagged four wickets to the great delight of players and spectators, before a wilt in the last five overs as energy levels ran out to a degree. I was proud of every player and most importantly they kept going and enjoyed the fun of cricket and teamwork that our game offers.
After the tea break, I set off to meet son and grandson at the Amber Cars Britannia Ground later learning that Lewis Stone was unofficial man of the match with 35 runs to go with flighted leg spin wickets, well played,
