3XI MATCH REPORTS 2020

September 5, 2020 - Tong Park Esholt @ Tong

At the beautiful Tong Park ground the scores were similar and with Captain Richard Edwards and Evan Kettlewell starting the reply with a solid partnership. This partnership created a platform towards the seasons first victory but sadly batters then came and went rapidly playing shots immediately in their innings and the home gratefully accepted all offerings with clean catches.

Evan was the exception displaying patience, style and elegance which his young teammates fail to heed as he reached 33. A top effort but Congs perished disappointing their cold but devoted supporters.

Not one Congs batter was bowled!

Again a good sporting occasion in the most beautiful cricketing surroundings.

September 12, 2020 - Cookridge "B" @ the Brit

A damp pitch at the Amber Cars Britannia Ground made life a little difficult for batting but the young Congs attack did just that by opening the bowling with leg spinner Rajogopala who returned figures of 11-4-22-1.  Antony Edwards picked up 3 victims despite struggling with his run up.  Off spinner A Gunner was parsimonious and Zak Stolarski finished with a flourish, 4 for 17. The medium pace of Hullah completed the young attack with an economical spell as Cookridge used most of their overs in totaling 91.

In reply, Evan Kettlewell demonstrated his skill and patience in an ideal openers innings, remaining unbeaten on 34 facing 87 deliveries, excellent. Others batted around him as the 92 needed was reached in fine style enabling Richard Edwards 3rd team to record their first win of the season after several near misses.

Congratulations to him and all who make the game of cricket possible on our beautiful ground.
